FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions: 

Q1) Does NVLL offer scholarships for the registration cost?
A) Yes. The program is hosted by T-Mobile and is called "Call Up Grants" click here for more information an application. This is a strict program and usually doesn't open for applications until January.

Q2) How many games is there in a typical season?
A) NVLL will schedule 12 season games for each division and playoffs for older divisions.

Q3) What equipment do I need to provide my player to compete in NVLL?
A) See Equipment Info document or use the "About NVLL" tab on the home page to navigate to the equipment info page.

Q4) When are practices?
A) NVLL will schedule practices for the pre-season.  Nights and times will vary between Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with times 5PM - 8PM.  After opening day practices are scheduled by the team Manager. Practices for the season begin in February each year.

Q5) This my child's first season or hasn't played in x years, can I request he/she play in the younger division?

A) Yes, you can request for them to play down a division by entering the request in the comments section during registration.  However, the player will still need to attend evaluations (if required) for the assigned age division for evaluations.  Ultimately Managers, Safety Officer, Player Agent and Parent will decide the best course for the player.

Q6) I have 2 siblings in the same division can I request they be put on the same team?

A) Of course, place your request in the comment sections for both players.   They will be placed on the same team even for drafted divisions.

Q7)  What does my child need to bring for evaluations?

A) Player will need to bring a glove and batting helmet, there will be some bats available for use if needed.  For equipment requirements see Equipment Info.

Q8) Does NVLL have fall ball?
No, NVLL does not have fall ball.

Q9) What is the length of a typical season with NVLL?
Registration begins in December, evaluations in January. Practice begins sometime in February and games are typically over in May. If your player is selected for All-Stars those can go on into the summer. 

Q10) Does NVLL give discounts for siblings?

NVLL does not currently have a discount program for siblings. 

Q11) How do I know if my child is eligible to play with NVLL?
Please refer to our boundary map. There are waivers available but they are case by case and must be approved at the district and regional level(s).  If you have a question about waivers, please go to our "about" tab and email the player agent for that league (baseball or softball).

Q12) How many fields does NVLL manage? 
We don't truly have a dedicated facility in Niceville. Twin Oaks, Rarick and the Softball Complex are maintained in part by the City of Niceville. The Valparaiso field is maintained primarily buy the school board and by NVLL. We do the absolute best we can.
